hireaband specialises in providing live entertainment for weddings, corporate events and private functions which means we are looking for entertainers who want to focus in this market and excel at offering top quality entertainment.

We understand that within the industry there can be a “them and us” undercurrent between entertainers and agencies and that acts can be uneasy about dealing with agents. That’s why we are committed to developing a close, open relationship with all of our acts and have adopted a strict code conduct to ensure that we carry out our business in the best interests of our acts and our clients.

hireaband will not represent every act that approaches them; we are determined to only represent the best acts that are available. However, raw talent isn’t merely enough we require our entertainers to have a strong awareness of good business practices and a professional attitude. In return we promise a partnership that is unparalleled in the New Zealand entertainment industry.

In the U.S., agents are seen as the sales force for entertainers and we aim to be regarded as such for our acts. So what do we expect from you?

We will only consider acts with first rate demo materials and photographs for representation. If you are an act that is new to hireaband we may request referrals and testimonials from your previous clients, in addition we may also require dates on which one of our representatives can attend to see you perform. As many of our clients are based remotely in NZ or overseas and unable to see their entertainers first hand, a good promo package is essential. Here is a check list of our main requirements:

• You must have good reliable PA and transport.
• Public Liability Insurance whilst not essential in New Zealand is recommended.
• If you are in an act with multiple members, i.e. a band, we prefer to deal with one nominated member who has sole control over the acts diary and is contactable during the day.
• We do not charge the hirer for our service, our whole business concept is that we charge the act a commission for finding them work. If this is not an acceptable condition for your act then we will not be able to represent you.
• We only charge the client the amount that it would cost them if they were to book the act directly, therefore what every you quote us is the cost we will quote to the client. We do carry out spot checks on a semi regular basis and any act found not to be complying with this condition will be removed from our database.
• hireaband request feedback from every client after every engagement which can be used as valuable testimonials for your act. We expect every act to carry out their duties in professional manner in every performance. We will provide you with both positive and negative feedback from your last performance as well as using the information we receive to improve our services as an agent.
• We need your commitment in keeping us up to date with your availability. We have online diaries set up for all of our bands to ensure that we can give the fastest possible response time to our clients and maximise our entertainers prospective business.
• Every time we receive and enquiry for your act we will advise you in an e-mail of the clients name, the date of the event and the venue. If you receive an enquiry directly from the same potential client we expect you to direct them back through hireaband. Failure to do so will result in immediate removal from our database and will have implications on any existing bookings.
• We only accept bands who perform a wide range of covers that suit the wedding, corporate and function market. We do not represent originals bands. it is not our area of expertise.

We will always do our best to obtain the best possible fee for your act, and for that reason we do not place our bands for pub or club work as we know that it is generally underpaid. If we are putting you forward for lots of gigs but you do not seem to be getting the work we will do our best to give you feedback on the aspects of your business that need to be improved. Whether it is price, demos, photographs or your set list that may need some alteration. We are here to work with our acts to maximise their potential and are happy to offer free advice to do so.

On the majority of occasions you will receive payment for your services prior to the engagement. If you are new to hireaband you will have to undertake a few gigs before this will come into effect. Where you are not paid prior to the engagement you will be paid the first working day following it.

We provide clear instructions in relation to your engagement, with date, realistic set up and venue contact details to ensure that the gig is as stress free for our acts as possible.

We are committed to actively promoting our entertainers with our current client base of venues and event planners as well as through our strong media presence and our web site. We are spending tens of thousands of dollars each year ensuring that we obtain the status of the "number one" entertainment agency in New Zealand for Weddings, Functions and Corporate Events.

We are growing rapidly and we are looking for more acts of the right calibre. As entertainers ourselves we know it isn't the glamorous job that everyone believes. We have missed the family weddings because of gig commitments, dragged ourselves out of hospital to full fill engagements and spent long cold nights sleeping in the band van! We know it isn't an easy job when the venue are being awkward with your load in! Our point is that we are on your side and we are there to help.
